Being fans of old school branding of Northern Soul we were commissioned to design a Northern Soul poster for an event with limited edition framed print copies given out as competition items at the event. Pleased with the outcome and design this creative service expanded to merchandise items that included bucket hat, woman’s loafers, sneakers, polo shirt, motor bike helmet and stretch dress.
It did present some design challenges as our research into Northern Soul merchandise showed that design styles were still old school and we wanted to refresh this and modernise it a little. The result you see is based on many failures beforehand (as with all design) but all parties were very happy with the design results.
